"God Bless You"

If I had a diaper for everytime I heard someone tell me that when I am out with the boys I think Tom could have a diaper for a couple of months. If I'm not being "God Blessed" then I hear how I must be crazy that I have 4 boys or I'm nuts for being out with them in public. Thank you for the prayers - I could use them, 4 boys is nothing when you are planning on having 8 granddaughters, and I think we would all go insane if we stayed at home until Tom was walking. As proof in this blog title I know it is a little crazy and a little overwhelming to have 4 children within just under 5 years but I think Matt and I are handling it quite well. Things get hectic and crazy at times. My clean kitchen floor, bathroom or living room might only last 5 minutes but we are ok. The kids give us such great joy. For example last night at church Matt was trying to keep both James and Patrick happy by holding them up so they can see what was going on at the alter. Patrick at times was not making things easy for Matt because he would squirm or then kick off a shoe. But by the time mass was almost over we were laughing at James and Patrick trying to blow out the candles that were lit on the pillars of the church. And then after church John, James and Patrick were parading around our living room re-enacting parts of the mass they saw just a few hours ago. Thank goodness for video cameras to capture some of the memories!

Awesome weekend!

The birthday/Easter festivities went off without too many problems. The only snag in the plans was Patrick throwing a toy car that hit James directly in the face leaving James with a scratched eye after a trip to the doctors. The kids really were excited about the Wii. In fact they can't get enough of it. James always wants to play but it seems like after a little while he would rather not. Technically you could probably sit while swinging your arm for the games we have but I want him to stand up and move around a little. I think John would play it all day if I let him.

So far not a bad week. Thomas is growing fast! John and James went to a movie theater with their aunts and yesterday we went to the zoo. Going to get diapers today might seem like a downer for them - unless there are toys!

This and that

Lots going on since I have last blogged - I guess that is the proper term. Well we are now the proud owners of a Wii game. My sister got one for her kids at Christmas and introduced it to my children when Tom was born. That is all they have been talking about. What I like about this game system is that the kids are not just in front of the TV pushing buttons they are actually doing something. Matt and I have been discussing when do we get it and give it to the kids. I was thinking more like Christmas so we had time to purchase one and all the little things you need to go with it. Well Toys R Us had some a couple of weeks ago but with the snowstorm we didn't get there. That same weekend Kmart advertised some - again we didn't get there. Well Target them advertised this weekend and then I think it was Matt with the brilliant plan - why don't you get it for your birthday - which was a week away. This was perfect because the kids and I could benefit from this cool toy. Now when Christmas comes they each can get something from Santa and life will be grand. I know John will be excited as all get out. I can already hear him next week if we are not playing Wii he will be asking to play.

Yesterday I got the kids out to the mall. The cabin fever has been getting to us all. I'm just tired of all the cold and wet weather going on. We need some warmer temperatures fast - I'm just talking mid 40's - nothing too crazy! The kids were really good. They had fun in the play area until a play group showed up then John and James were ready to do something else. We even got to shop a few stores.

Today was John's Easter party. Apparently none of the parents signed up to be room parents. I thought someone had but they didn't. That is a shame. I hope they had fun anyways. They sure came home with enough candy. I don't know if they had any good treats for snack time. I don't think they were asking the parents to send any in.

Tomorrow we are going to make my birthday cake and color Easter Eggs. I think Friday I might take them to the store to get some ingredients to make an egg strata to take to Grandma's house on Saturday. I was hoping to cook out a few steaks for my birthday on Sunday but I guess I will make my new favorite pizza - philly cheesesteak for me and Matt and the kids can have the traditional plain. Nothing says Easter like pizza and candy! I'm just not into cooking a ham and all the fixings for me and Matt. A bit lazy on my part. I need to start thinking about what to make for dinner next week. Maybe we'll have a few slices of ham and potatoes.

Checked into getting a job at Chick-fil-a. Looks like they should be posting a sign in a couple of weeks that tells me when they will be interviewing. I just pray that if I get the job that I can find someone good and reliable to watch the kids for a couple of hours until Matt gets home. I don't even know what I should offer this person. Maybe I should do some research. This is where I need lots and lots of prayers that this works out. I feel like I will be pulling off a miracle to find someone and to land the job as well.

Quotes of the day!

This morning started out a little rough as Tom decided 4:30 was a good time to eat. Usually not a problem but he had several bowel movements while feeding and that leads to a new diaper and it wakes the baby up and before you know it you are headed back to bed with only 10 minutes before your alarm is to go off. To make matters worse Patrick was fussing. I think it was the case of the missing pacifier. Luckily Dad was willing to save him.

So I got the courage after our Target visit went so well that I could take everyone to BJ's. With the weather forecast to be warmer, I thought today was a good day. I was right as the boys were very good through the store. When we got to the checkout area James spots the Ohio Lottery Instant Ticket machine and says "Mommy - Ohio Lottery!" as the cashier is looking at me for an explanation. Um - yes we enjoy watching the Lottery show on Saturday nights. Ok does that make us weird or does the pretend game hanging in our basement do us in?

We make it home - I even get the diapers and other items in the house - this is how good the day was going - it helped two boys were sleeping in the car and the other two are used to hanging out while I run stuff in before they get out. We fed our kitchen ants the crumbs from our blueberry and chocolate chip muffins we had for a snack when we got home.

Fast forward - all the boys but John is down for a nap. I finish folding a load of laundry and John says "Mom when you lay down I will lay down on Dad's side because all that shopping made me sleepy!" I thought I was going to fall over - the kid who never naps says he is tired because we walked around BJ's for a whole 1/2 hour! Well I got to lay down and he did too but I don't think he slept like I did. I can't believe he hasn't asked me to watch TV yet during this "quiet" time!

I wonder what else will be said today that will make me laugh.

Mmmm Beer!

So I had my first sips of Guiness since the baby was born. Normally after having a baby it takes a few beers to acquire that taste back. With the Guiness - no re-acquiring needed. I could have downed the whole thing!!!

I feel the clock ticking

On many things -

All the kids are napping - so when is my free time over?

My STD is going to be running out soon - so what job is out there that is perfect for me and the family? I saw a position at a local store - I think it would be good for me. You need to apply in person - I have not had the time to do so. I like my virtual assistant position but its not enough money but I like the flexibility of the position and it is not too time consuming. I found a couple other opportunities via the internet but I'm a bit skeptical. You know how you get a position usually by word of mouth and usually from someone you trust - this isn't one of those situations so I am hesitant about making that leap of faith. A new Chick-fil-a restaurant is going up in our area. I'm waiting to see when they are accepting applications. The only good thing I see is they are not open on Sundays. I just don't know how I sell myself in an interview never having worked at a restaurant type place.

Today has been a great day. My SIL came over to watch Tom and James while I picked up John from school and took Patrick to the doctors for a checkup. He is healthy. It was nice to get out of the house without too much hassle and to have company to visit with. Plus I hit Wendy's for lunch and had an awesome burgers with onions. I know Tom won't like it later but I needed it!

I took the time change in stride which is very unusual for me - but since my sleeping has been out of whack with the baby what's another hour of lost sleep. The boys on the other hand are having a harder time to adjust. John is napping now. He needs to - just I need to get him up soon. James didn't nap yesterday and passed out about 7:45pm last night. Then he played for 45 minutes (while I slept and didn't hear him) Patrick is doing well although he fell asleep in the car on the way home from his doctor's appointment that threw him off a little at nap time. Going to sleep "earlier" is hard on the boys too.

I'm hoping to get out tomorrow with the boys. It supposed to be nicer and we need some things at BJ's. I'm just trying to think of the best cart option for us that everyone is happy and I still can get the diapers and stuff we need in the cart.

I feel bad the older boys can't be outside in this awesome amount of snow we got on Saturday. I can't be outside with them. I guess I could let them go in just the backyard but if they fall or get stuck that could be an issue with 2 little ones who need my attention inside.

Time to surf more before Tom wakes up!

A surprise for me!

This week isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Granted we have our moments when things are crazy as all get out but it has been good overall. (please note it is only Tuesday). Tom is a wonderful baby. He has only been getting up 2 times per night. In the daytime I need to feed him just about every 2 hours but I like resting at night. I was able to get the younger boys to the store yesterday while John was in school. It was crazy windy but warm. I almost lost the stroller but got it back. I wish we had more weather like yesterday - warm enough to get outside. Today is freezing rain and cold - not wanting to venture out much. I feel bad the kids probably feel like they have been in this house for 2 months straight. I need to start pumping or not care about nursing in public so we can get out - warmer weather will definitely help.

John is entertaining his brothers right now by trying to jump rope. I don't think he has been successful but they are laughing hard. Nothing like having 5 minutes to myself to blog!
